A foolproof way to stop hiccups

This is a foolproof, though surprising, way to stop the hiccups! I learned how to do this from Mrs. Christen, a friend of mine. You have to fill a cup with water and put a napkin over the top, then dampen the rim, but do not break the napkin. Drink through the napkin, and your hiccups will be gone! Though this method seems very unusual, Mrs. Christen says it has worked every time for her, and it certainly has for me!
